Betliar Manor

Betliar is about a ten-minute drive from us and it is one of the few manor houses in Slovakia that survived with its original furnishings intact — the library, the paintings, the hunting trophies and the collections the Andrássy family gathered from all over the world. Nothing was brought in from elsewhere; it simply stayed where it was.

What to see

The interior tour leads through the state rooms, a library of more than twenty thousand volumes and the family's collections of curiosities from their travels. The manor is run by the Slovak National Museum and tours are guided.

The English park

A large English-style landscape park surrounds the manor, with a waterfall, gazebos and ponds — one of the finest historical parks in the country. You can usually walk in the park without taking the interior tour, so it works as a simple stroll too.

Getting there

About ten minutes north of Ubytovanie KRAS by car. There is also a bus from Rožňava station. Opening hours and admission are published by the Slovak National Museum — the season opening hours are longer than in the off season.

Where to stay

Ubytovanie KRAS is in the centre of Rožňava, ten minutes from the manor. Have a look at our rooms or book your dates directly. For more trip ideas see Krásna Hôrka and Caves near Rožňava.
